Jodi Smoley brings 13 years of veterinary experience to UrgentVet Mentor, with a background spanning both emergency medicine and general practice. After beginning her career in animal emergency medicine as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), she developed a passion for supporting both patients and veterinary teams, ultimately leading her into practice management.
Originally from Highland Heights, Ohio, Jodi discovered her calling in veterinary medicine as an adult after helping a stranger whose dog had been struck by a car near her home. That experience inspired her to pursue an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Stautzenberger College in Brecksville, Ohio, and she soon began working in emergency veterinary medicine.
Outside of the clinic, Jodi enjoys reading, taking impromptu trips with her family, and spending time with her husband, their three children, and their lively household of pets. Her four cats—Noni, Stanley, Mousey, and Tampa Bae—hold a special place in her heart, especially her soul cat, Noni. The family also shares their home with two dogs, Fergus, a Redbone Coonhound, and Wallace (“Wally”), a Mastiff mix, along with two reptiles, Maise the bearded dragon and Gonzo the chameleon.
One fun fact about Jodi? She is absolutely head over heels in love with Canadian geese!
