How Does it Work

Urgent Care For Pets?

Sometimes our furry family members get sick or hurt when we’re least expecting it, but it’s not serious enough for the emergency veterinarian. UrgentVet was founded to help during those times. Watch the videos below or jump to our FAQs.

What’s it like inside an UrgentVet clinic?

Here’s a short video of what to expect.

UrgentVet treats cats & dogs – providing care for non-life threatening conditions that happen after your regular vet is closed. Here are some examples of the types of illnesses and injuries we treat.

UrgentVet is a whole new breed of pet clinic. We provide fast, effective, after-hours relief for common pet illnesses and injuries — just like an urgent care center for people, we provide urgent care for pets.

We’re open 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. In addition, we’re open on holidays from noon to 8 p.m.

We recognize the importance of clear, concise communication with your primary care vet. We will fax and/or email a copy of your pet’s record to your regular vet’s office within 24 hours of your visit. In addition, we encourage you to follow-up with your primary vet to ensure continued good health for your pet.

We provide immediate care for things like post-operative incisions, minor wounds, ear infections, mild vomiting and other ailments that are urgent but not life-threatening. Our experienced staff is trained to treat these conditions quickly so your pet can go home with you at the end of the visit. UrgentVet will tell you precisely when to follow up with your primary care veterinarian.

We accept cash, all major credit cards, Care Credit℠, and ScratchPay. We encourage you to apply for Care Credit℠ online at prior to your visit at UrgentVet. Payment is due at the time services are rendered. In the event that your estimate for veterinary services exceeds $250, a deposit in the amount of the exam fee may be requested prior to beginning treatment. Learn more about our veterinarian service payment options.

We provide care for dogs and cats. Although we love all kinds of animals, we’re focusing our care on the two most common pets because it allows us to deliver the most efficient urgent care for the largest number of pet owners.

No, UrgentVet doesn’t offer appointments in the traditional sense. Instead, we ask that pet parents SAVE YOUR SPOT online. This reserves an estimated arrival time for you and your pet. While we make every effort to provide accurate timelines, we are an urgent care clinic so we regularly have severe cases that require all-hands-on-deck, and this can cause additional wait times for cases that are not life threatening. We thank you for your understanding.

UrgentVet was created to fill the gap between primary care veterinarians and 24-hour emergency hospitals. We provide prompt, effective relief for cases that are not serious enough for an emergency hospital, but are too pressing to wait for an appointment the next business day. We’re also priced at about 40% less than ER vets.

If your pet is diagnosed with a condition that requires hospitalization, surgery or advanced care, our team will discuss which options are right for you and your pet. These options may include, but are not limited to, transfer back to your primary care veterinarian on the next business day, immediate transfer to a 24-hour emergency hospital, palliative at-home care or humane euthanasia.

UrgentVet has an in-house pharmacy to provide medications necessary for the cases that we treat. We believe your primary care veterinarian is your best source of information for trusted pet medications.
