Bonnie, Practice Manager at UrgentVet Belmont, brings over 25 years of experience in working with animals, including 8 years in a clinical setting. Originally from Fresno, California, with a few years spent in upstate New York, Bonnie grew up in a family where animals were a constant presence—her father was a dairy farmer, and her mother was a nurse. This unique combination fostered a lifelong commitment to caring for animals.
Bonnie’s career highlights include her early work with Hansel and Gretel, a pair of binturongs, where she successfully helped them voluntarily cooperate for vaccinations, improving their overall care. She has a strong academic background with a BA in Biological Sciences (Physiology) from Northwestern University and an MA in Zoology from Miami University.
Outside of work, Bonnie is an adventure enthusiast who loves hiking, backpacking, biking, kayaking, and even salsa and swing dancing. She shares her home with her 11-year-old Shetland Sheepdog, Scout (affectionately called Scoutamoose or Scouters), and her 5-year-old Bahamian Potcat, Chaplin, who sometimes fancies himself as a nightfury.
Bonnie is also known for her vast collection of animal facts and stories. So, when you visit, feel free to ask her about any animal, and she’ll be ready to share a fun and memorable tidbit. She leads the team at UrgentVet Belmont that treat non-life-threatening emergencies in cats and dogs.
