Alissa comes to UrgentVet with over 14 years of experience in the veterinary field. Growing up in Houston, TX, Alissa knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Her childhood was shaped by her love for animals, and her heart dog, a Scottish Terrier named Bogart, became a key inspiration. She fondly remembers hiking with him, always patiently waiting to assist him off large rocks during their adventures.
Alissa earned her Associate of Applied Science from The Vet Tech Institute of Houston in Texas, which paved the way for her varied career. She has worked in general practice, emergency care, specialty, and veterinary dentistry, both as a vet nurse and as a hospital manager. This diverse experience has given her a well-rounded understanding of the veterinary field, which she now brings to her role at UrgentVet Bayport.
When she’s not managing the practice, Alissa enjoys reading, playing video games, exploring new restaurants, and indulging in resin crafting. At home, she lives with her supportive husband Shawn, their sweet yet anxious dog Sophia, and her 18-year-old ball python named Virgil.
Alissa is passionate about helping pets and their owners through their urgent care needs, and her years of experience and deep love for animals make her an invaluable leader of the UrgentVet Bayport team.
