Two Big Specials For Your Pet This Summer At UrgentVet

This summer UrgentVet has two awesome specials for you and your pet. We’re focused on preventive care, and we have a special offer for you to focus on it as well!

If you haven’t heard the news, Canine Influenza has hit North Carolina and vaccination is important. Dr. Dobies was recently quoted by the Charlotte Observer to discuss the disease. “This is not a time to panic, not a time to be overly concerned, but it is a time to be prudent,” said veterinarian Jim Dobies, who owns UrgentVet Pet Clinic in Belmont and Fort Mill, S.C.

The following offers are available through September 30, 2017, while supplies last.

Canine Flu Vaccine Clinics will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the summer. Canine Influenza is an emerging disease in the Carolinas. To date, there have been two confirmed deaths associated with the virus in North Carolina. It’s recommended that any dogs that routinely receive the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine also be vaccinated for Canine Influenza. Dogs at highest risk are those that attend dog shows, board regularly, visit the groomer, and travel with their owners in the Southeast. 80% of dogs exposed to the virus become infected. Typical clinical signs are upper respiratory symptoms (sneezing, nasal discharge, coughing) and fever. Severe cases require hospitalization in isolation, and death can occur due to complications from pneumonia. There have also been case reports of cats testing positive for Canine Influenza, but their symptoms are generally mild and self-limiting. Vaccination is the best protection from the disease. UrgentVet will carry the bivalent vaccine containing the two strains that have been isolated in the United States. Naive dogs and puppies > 7 weeks of age should receive two boosters three weeks apart. Previously vaccinated dogs should receive annual boosters. The special price of one vaccine will be $20. If owners wish to pre-pay for the second booster for the same dog the price is only $30 (half-off the second booster). No other offers apply. This is a limited time offer and applies only to the flu vaccine clinics on Wednesday and Thursday at participating UrgentVet locations. On any other days of the week besides Wednesday and Thursday, owners must pay the exam fee of $74 per pet in order to get the flu clinic price.

Tail Waggin’ Wednesdays (through August 31, 2017) at our Fort Mill, SC location will see 10% of all proceeds on Wednesdays this summer will be donated to The Humane Society of York County. New clients that mention the HSYC will also receive $20 off their first exam any day of the week through the summer (no other offers apply).
