Jamie brings more than 20 years of veterinary experience to UrgentVet McCandless, with a career primarily rooted in general practice. Throughout the years, Jamie has served in a variety of roles within veterinary medicine, building a strong foundation in patient care, team leadership, and creating positive experiences for both pets and their families.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Jamie has always had a passion for working with animals. Growing up surrounded by a variety of pets helped foster a lifelong love for animal care and ultimately led to a rewarding career in the veterinary field.
One of Jamie’s favorite pet memories is of a beloved Chihuahua named Tori, affectionately known as the family’s “mythical unicorn.” Not only was Tori one of a kind in personality, but her coat also seemed to change colors with each passing season, making her just as unique on the outside as she was on the inside.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys building intricate architectural LEGO® creations, hiking with a wife, Amy, and their four-legged family members, and spending rainy days curled up with a good book.
At home, Jamie and Amy share their lives with three dogs—Dexter and Finley, both Chihuahuas, and Zero, a terrier mix—as well as TaterTot, a cat who does an excellent job of keeping everyone humble.
A fun fact about Jamie? Every pet who visits the clinic is a favorite but there’s an especially soft spot for the spicy ones!
