Michael Shaughnessy

Michael brings over 22 years of experience and a lifelong passion for animal care to his role as Practice Manager. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michael discovered his calling in veterinary medicine at a young age after helping care for his first dog, Chance. After Chance suffered a leg injury and infection, Michael assisted the veterinarian with daily bandage changes—an experience that left a lasting impression and inspired his commitment to helping animals heal.

Michael earned his associate degree from the Western School of Health and Business in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has since built an extensive and diverse career in veterinary medicine. His experience includes emergency and anesthesia, specialty surgery, laboratory work, and general practice, giving him a comprehensive understanding of both patient care and clinical operations.

At home, Michael lives with his wife and their two pets: Delphi, a female Rottweiler mix, and Ace, an orange tabby cat. One of his favorite memories involves a mischievous family beagle named Maggie, who once climbed onto a table at a family reunion and attempted to eat an entire spread of pizza—an unforgettable and humorous moment.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys gardening, weightlifting, fishing, and playing guitar. He’s also a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast, always on the lookout for a great cup.

With decades of hands-on experience and a genuine love for animals, Michael is dedicated to supporting his team and providing exceptional care to every patient and pet parent who walks through the door. Michael leads the team at UrgentVet Kennesaw where they treat minor injuries and illnesses in cats and dogs.
