Patricia Carbonell grew up in Hopatcong, New Jersey before moving to Denver, Colorado. She received her Associate Degree in Applied Science from Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey where she passed her VTNE (Technician Boards Exam) in November 2015.
Thinking back to her childhood, Patricia knew she had a calling to work with animals. Her family remembers always finding her cuddling with the closest dog or cat – stray or owned. Patricia’s favorite memory was when she rescued her most recent dog, Gemma, a blue heeler who was about to be euthanized. Gemma came into the hospital where Patricia worked for a cardio workup after being housed by a local shelter. Gemma was diagnosed with a PDA, a hole in a main vessel to the heart. Sadly the procedure needed to remedy this was out of the price range the shelter could afford. Already owning a heeler, Patricia called the shelter the next day and signed the papers to bring her home. Luckily, the job she was with at the time generously covered the surgery, and Gemma is now a happy young two-year-old dog and a great addition to Patricia’s family.
Other than Gemma, Patricia’s pack makes up of Jersey (Red Heeler), Tony (American Bully), Bohdi (Orange Tabby), Binx (Black cat), two Guinea Pigs named Bill Murray and Bean, and of course her husband! Outside of the clinic, Patricia can be found hiking and camping with them, or attending live music and snowboarding.
Patricia comes to UrgentVet with 11 years of experience in Critical Care (Specialty), Emergency, Neurology and General Practice. She’s proud to lead the team at UrgentVet – Parker as they serve pets and pet parents of Denver.
