About Us

Our veterinarians love pets as much as you do.

UrgentVet was founded to fill the gap between your regular veterinarian and the ER vet. When your pet has a mild illness or minor injury after hours, we’ll provide the compassionate care your pet needs and the affordability and convenience you want.

Immediate Care

With No Appointments

Like an urgent care center for people, we provide prompt veterinary care for dogs and cats. We take care of illnesses and injuries that require immediate attention – but aren’t serious enough to warrant an expensive trip to a 24-hour emergency hospital.

We Understand

What Urgent Means

Our UrgentVet mission is simple: We want to be here for your pet when your primary care vet can’t. Our goal is to provide quick, convenient, affordable care 365 days a year. Save your spot online or just walk in.

We’re Open

Nights & Weekends

We’re open evenings and weekends. See our Hours – Locations page for details. We’re even open on holidays. With UrgentVet, you can bring comfort and relief to your pet when it’s needed. No waiting until the next business day. No need to miss work for a daytime appointment.

The UrgentVet Experience

WE ARE the bridge between your regular veterinarian and the overnight ER

UrgentVet provides immediate relief for mild illnesses and minor injuries that occur in dogs and cats. We’re open every day of the year, and we are proud to offer pet parents savings of up to 40% less than regular pet emergency hospitals.

Common conditions treated include: vomiting, diarrhea, lameness, urinary tract disease, skin and ear conditions, eye problems, lacerations, scrapes, respiratory ailments and stomach concerns.

Online check-in is offered so that you and your pet can wait in the comfort of your home until it’s your turn. Of course, we also accept walk-ins. When you first arrive at UrgentVet, you’ll notice the waiting room isn’t crowded. That’s because we prefer pets and pet parents stay together during their visit. For those times when rooms are occupied, seating is spread out around the perimeter for privacy and comfort.

Visiting the vet can be a scary experience. Our clinics are designed for a calm experience for the pet and pet parent.

We have 5 or 6 species and size specific exam rooms along with a comfort room with a separate exit. Other creature comforts at UrgentVet are: non-slip flooring, dimmable lighting, soothing colors, soft music, calming pheromones, and quiet exam lift tables. Staff are Fear-Free trained – ready to take care of the pet’s physical and emotional needs.

The central treatment area has an in-house laboratory and state of the art equipment – including a digital radiography and ultrasound. Approximately 90% of the patients we see are treated onsite and follow up with their primary care veterinarian. A detailed referral letter and records are provided.

Meet Our Founder:

Dr. Jim Dobies
Founder/Veterinarian

The UrgentVet concept was created by Dr. Jim Dobies, a beloved veterinarian whose kindhearted care has been appreciated and valued by countless furry patients and their families.

Dr. Dobies recognized that pet parents needed another choice in veterinary services – an alternative that would offer flexible after-hours care, without the premium cost of a 24-hour emergency hospital. To fill this urgent need, he created UrgentVet – the clinic for pets who can’t wait to feel better.

Common conditions treated include: vomiting, diarrhea, lameness, urinary tract disease, skin and ear conditions, eye problems, lacerations, scrapes, respiratory ailments and stomach concerns.
