Laura Amerine

Laura, born and raised in Rockport, brings a unique background in animal behavior and training to the veterinary field. Her passion began early and the Fear Free aspect of UrgentVet sparked her interest immediately upon joining.

When she was 18 years old, she started volunteering and eventually working at the Texas State Aquarium. This is where she quickly fell in love with training and animal behavior specifically. Fear Free is such an important concept to Laura due to this passion for positive reinforcement training that stems from her time at Texas State Aquarium.

Laura’s journey includes work in General Practice, Urgent Care, Training and Boarding. Fun fact: she started out on the UrgentVet Lakeway Care Team prior to her promotion to Practice Manager! She lives with her soon-to-be wife and their five pets, including a Doberman/Husky mix named Kuzco, three cats (Russ, Earl and Wanda), and a leopard gecko named Minaj. A proud Hufflepuff, she is driven by compassion for animals and a deep love for helping others.

Laura leads the team at UrgentVet Lakeway where they treat non-life-threatening emergencies in cats and dogs.
