Katie Sykes has loved caring for animals since as early as she can remember. Soon after starting her first job as a veterinary assistant, Katie knew the veterinary field was her calling. She has now been in the animal care industry for over 8 years, and she looks forward to each day of work.
Katie gained the wealth of her experience working in general practice veterinary hospitals. She enjoys teaching people who are new to veterinary medicine, and at the same time – she is a lifelong learner, always on the lookout for training or other development opportunities for herself.
Katie finds the rewarding work of helping critically ill or injured animals to be her favorite part of her career. She’s also passionate about providing low-stress, comforting care to pets and their people. These reasons are why UrgentVet was a perfect match for Katie. She’s proud to lead a team of Fear Free Certified professionals in an urgent pet care setting with Fear Free features throughout the facility.
Katie graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a concentration in veterinary medicine. She now lives near Roswell with her Husband, their German Shepherd Mix – Leia, and their three cats – Lady, Summer, and Nymeria. When she’s not caring for pets at UrgentVet, Katie can be found spending quality time with her family and friends, or hiking with her husband and their dog.
