Dr. Camille Sherrod

Dr. Camille Sherrod grew up on a farm in southeastern NC surrounded by animals. Having completed degrees at both UNC-CH & NCSU, Camille makes the cut as a TarPacker, a rare & rather conflicted breed in her home state.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Camille worked first as an educator in Lesotho in southern Africa, then closer to home in Orange & Columbus Co. She discovered her true life’s calling–to serve animals & the people who love them–while attending seminary in Richmond, VA. Camille also found her other life’s passion there & married her classmate, Rev. Jonathan Sherrod.
Dr. Sherrod’s clinical experience in veterinary medicine spans more than 2 decades, working in general practices & predominantly ER/speciality centers throughout the Carolinas. Still an advocate of education, Dr. Sherrod has served as Director & Associate Professor at collegiate vet tech programs in both NC & SC as well.
Among her professional interests, Dr. Sherrod particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery and managing acute and chronic pain. Her understanding of analgesia expanded through training in acupuncture at the Chi Institute, part of the UF-College of Vet Med. Through her housecall practice, Dr. Sherrod loves combining acupuncture & therapeutic laser with conventional medicine to effectively relieve pets’ pain & improve their mobility & overall quality of life.
Camille, Jonathan, & daughter, Zane, share their Durham home with their fur-kids: Whiskey, a Saving Grace rescue, & 3 fabulous felines–Midnight Katniss Everdeen, Natasha, & Tiny Tim. When not at work or home, Dr. Sherrod loves to spend time hiking, photographing nature, or kayaking from the mountains to the coast of our beautiful state.
